The company was founded in 1963 as Hirschfeld Brothers Construction Company and changed its name in 1983 to Hirschfeld Building Construction Company, Inc. Hirschfeld Brothers has been ranked by Building Design and Construction as one of the top 50 builders in the United States.

Hirschfeld Building Construction acts as both General Contractor and Construction Manager for Hirschfeld Properties and its affiliates. By serving as the in-house construction arm of Hirschfeld Properties, Hirschfeld Building Construction allows Hirschfeld Properties and Hirschfeld Management to tightly control critical dates dependent upon the timely completion of construction work. This translates into retail, office, and residential tenants being assured that they will take possession of their space on the dates first quoted to them. This facet of the Hirschfeld organization adds an extra dimension to the firm's capabilities, a dimension which is not obtainable by developers whose construction is done by an outside general contractor or construction manager.
